ARTICLE REFLECTION
The current trends of education and the future of learning
are inclined toward hybrid or e-learning. Technology is unprecedently
become the answer to our educational progress. Learning Management System (LMS)
is a core step toward this learning evolution.
It includes the management, tracking and reporting of the learning system in a more unified and accessible way. Whether it is the well-planned guideline for the learner or the interaction between instructor and pupil, LMS plays a vital role in regulating the systematic learning process. It is simply run through software that provides a centralized solution for enrolling, monitoring and facilitating students with relevant content required for smooth dissemination of effective learning. The two main elements which make the LMS a successful future approach for educational development are its concurrent reporting and distant accessibility.
The benefit of having a learning management system in the educational spectrum is always backed by the principle of flexibility and reusability of content on a larger scale. It provides more alternatives to educators for curriculum designing, deliverance methods, and assessment techniques.
The Learning Management System I use with my pupil is the Seneca Learning platform, which advocates the LMS core benefit of track recording of my pupil. I can remotely monitor the progress of the student and can evaluate not only their progress but also the input as per set criteria. Consequently, it helped me to gauge their engagement and academic motivation. Seneca Learning Management System works on the core ideology where students have been assigned tailored curriculum content. The whole system can be monitored through the in-depth progress of the individual learner. In Addition, the Seneca system completely works on the module of flexibility and convenience, where self-paced learning is adopted by the pupil. When working at their own pace, learners can stride with intrinsic motivation to achieve academic excellence. During the unanticipated wave of Covid’19, this Learning management system proved to be an effective stream of learning channels. It endorsed the benefit of high-quality design material, deliverance of content and effective assessment process.
Alongside with numerous advantages of LSM, it can sometimes be tagged with technical limitations, where a slow internet connection might hamper the process of learning. This inconvenience can also lead to frustration for the pupil, which results in low motivation and poor follow-up practice from the learner.
The Learning Management System is based on the theory of connectivism, which clearly states that pupils are supposed to connect their thoughts, information, and theories to support their academic progress with the help of new technology and skill-building. In the light of its theory, Learning Management System fosters opportunities for the pupil to make decisions for their learning collaboratively and enables the educator to create a platform that benefits a larger community with practical solutions to knowledge attainment.

Quite an insightful approach to choosing and developing with the use of Seneca.
ReplyDeleteI can relate with the choice of using a platform that allows students to work together and work collectively to reach an end goal. However, you mention "...the pupil to make decisions for their learning collaboratively...", which sparks a questions about the role of the teacher in this environment. Since students are encouraged to work together, some form of guidance may be required. I am not sure I fully understood the role of the teacher.
What do you think the role of the teacher in this situation will be?
